Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary trip into depths of the wild



Telangana is home to some of the unique flora and fauna species which make wildlife sanctuaries in the State a paradise for nature and wildlife lovers. As the State is dotted with thick forests, offering a habitat to large number of species, a trip to a wildlife sanctuary should not be missed if you want to watch the wild animal in its natural habitat.
Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary in Mulugu district is one such place where you can explore one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in the State. This splendid wildlife reserve is located near the Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Telangana border.
The land in this wildlife park is undulating from steep slopes to gentle slopes from west to east. Three-quarters of the area consist of a plain while the rest is hilly with many streams and springs. Godavari River passes through the sanctuary.
The wildlife sanctuary also has some historical significance owing to the existence of tree fossils in the Sarvai area and caves. The vegetation here is tropical dry deciduous with teak and other trees of good quality standing at 60-foot height.
It is home to tiger, leopard, wolf, dhole, golden jackal, sloth bear, chousingha, blackbuck, nilgai, sambar, spotted deer, chinkara, Indian giant squirrel and many kinds of birds and reptiles like mugger crocodile, python, cobra and krait.
According to Telangana Tourism, Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary is counted as those rare eco-regions around the globe that have various embryonic species of ephemeral elements. The perennial river Dayyam Vagu flows through this beautiful sanctuary and separates the wildlife sanctuary into two parts.
Moreover, there is trekking at Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, which offers stunning scenery of the landscape and gives a chance to meet its cheerful, friendly people. BEAUTIFUL PALACES OF THE NIZAM

Palaces are the reminders of the luxurious past in India. One gets blown away by their majestic structure and exotic interiors. We can find such exquisite architectures in the city of Hyderabad. It is the influence of Nizams which spreads across the city. In this article, let us take some memorable walks through the 'Land of Nizams' and explore some beautiful palaces in Hyderabad!

Chowmahalla Palace

Chowmahalla Palace is among the most remarkable palaces of the Nizams in Hyderabad that has preserved its original beauty. Also known as ‘Chowmahallat Palace’, it's derived from two Urdu words-chār mahallāt, meaning 'four palaces.'
In March 2010, it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's spread across 12 acres of courtyards, gardens, palaces, and fountains.

While Salabat Jung began its' construction in 1750, it was completed by Asaf Jah V in 1869; hence, the exotic interiors and architecture reflect the era of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty. It was recognized as a prime seat in that era and was the formal residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad during their rule. Now under Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah, heir of the Nizams, it's one of the best tourist spots in the city.

Falaknuma Palace

Falaknuma Palace was built in the year 1893. It was the dream project of Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra. He was also the chief architect and designer of this fascinating formation.

The word Falaknuma comes from an Urdu word meaning 'Mirror of the Sky.' The ownership of the palace was shifted to the Nizams of Hyderabad from the Paigah family.

The palace is a unique and exotic blend of Italian and Tudor architecture and is spread across the 32-acre in Falaknuma, just five kilometers from Charminar. With ancient Nizam's artifacts, Venetian chandeliers, 60 rooms, and 22 halls, it is now a part of the Taj Group of Hotels and among the most famous palaces in Hyderabad.

Jubilee Hall

Sir Osman Ali Khan built the Jubilee Hall in 1913. It is one of the luxurious buildings in Hyderabad with the most remarkable architecture of the olden era. Zain Yar Jung designed the building in an elegant Indo-Persian style.

In the present day, the State Government utilizes it as a State Conference Hall. Surrounding the Jubilee Hall Palace is the Public Garden (Baagha-e-Aam) - one of the oldest gardens in Hyderabad.

Hill Fort Palace

Hill Fort Palace is among the few beautiful palaces in Hyderabad. Sir Nizamat Jung, the Chief Justice of Nizam Government, constructed this palace in 1915, where he stayed for 15 years.

For many years the palace was utilized as a heritage hotel by Ritz Hotel Company. In 1929, Asaf Jah VII bought it for his son Prince Moazzam Jah, and later, it was handed over to the City Improvement Board as the official residence of the chairman.

The palace is spread across 6 acres in Naubat Pahad, in the heart of the city near the architecture of the Hill Fort Palace. It mimics the style of Trinity College, Cambridge.

Purani Haveli

Purani Haveli, also known as Haveli Khadeem or Masarrat Mahal Palace, is among the oldest mansions of the Nizam era in south Afzal Gunj. Initially established by Mir Momen, the second Nizam of Hyderabad- Asaf Jah II, bought the palace and redesigned it. He later assigned it to his son Sikandar Jah, the third Nizam who completed it in the 1880s.

The palace served as a royal residence for the Nizams for a long time, and presently it is used as an office by the state government. European style blended with traditional Indian courtyards, the Haveli portrays the 18th-century look of the Hyderabad city.

Paigah Palace

Sir Viqar-ul-Umra built the Paigah Palace in the year 1900. Located in Begumpet, it is a large two-storied neo-classical palace with European architectural designs. With a grand porch, arches, Corinthian columns, windows, and wide arcaded verandahs on all four sides.

The Eldest grandson of Sir Viqar-ul-Umra, Nawab Abul Fatah Khan Bahadur lived in this palace for a long time, and presently, the palace is utilized by the US Consulate General.

King Kothi Palace

King Kothi Palace or Nazri Bagh Palace is amongst the royal palaces in Hyderabad, India. It was constructed by Kamal Khan and later sold to young prince Mir Osman Ali Khan, where he lived for a long time until his death, 1967. Initially, the palace was named 'KK,' and later, the young Nizam changed it to 'King Kothi,' literally meaning the king's mansion.

Araku valley

Katiki Falls originates from River Gosthani about 90 kilometers from Visakhapatnam. The waterfall is located near the Borra Caves and is a famous attraction for picnickers and nature lovers. The natural landscape surrounding the waterfall is lush green and goes through an uneven path that adds an element of adventure to the visitors trekking their way to the waterfall. It is, therefore, an ideal attraction for beginner to intermediate level trekkers. Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam and is a perfect example of natural harmony between the dry seasonal forest and the evergreen meadows.
The Sanctuary houses many rare species of wild life animals such as panthers, Sambar deer, spotted deer, barking deer, jackal, wild boar, and wild dog.

Submarine Museum

Submarine Museum is located in Visakhapatnam in the south-eastern state of India. The museum is inside an actual submarine, INS Kurusura, which was India's 5th submarine. The museum is situated on RK beach, near the War Memorial in Visakhapatnam. The beautiful scenery of the clear blue waters and golden sand on the beach serves as a perfect location for the Submarine Museum. It is frequently visited by enthusiasts who want to know more about living in submarines. The INS Kurusura served the Indian Navy for 31 years before it was decommissioned in 2001. Located on the east coast of India, the Borra Caves are situated in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district. British geologist William King discovered this million years old cave in the year 1807 and it has been a tourist favorite ever since. Breath taking hilly terrain, beautiful landscape, semi-evergreen moist deciduous forests, and wild fauna of the Borra Caves are a visual feast. A marvelous creation of nature, the caves were formed when river waters flow through a limestone area and the calcium carbonate turns into calcium bicarbonate, which is easily washed out by the running water. The most striking feature of the caves is its exquisite variety of speleothems ranging in size and irregularly shaped stalactites and stalagmites.
Borra Caves are deemed to be among the largest in the country and are perched at a whopping elevation of about 705 meters. They are basically karstic limestone structures extending to a depth of 80 m and are considered to be the deepest cave in India. The combination of sunlight and dark conjures amazing dancing shaped in the depths of the Borra Caves which is a sight in itself. Natural skylights in the caves make way for kaleidoscopic imagery that imparts them a unique enigma of their own. Animal lovers will find bats as well as the golden geckos hiding in the shadows of the niches. Simhachalam Temple

Situated in the city of Vishakhapatnam, the Simhachalam temple is an ornate shrine that is revered to be one of the most important temples in the region. The edifice is perched atop a hill 800 meters above the sea level and is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, who is an incarnation of Vishnu himself. Simhachalam Temple is embellished with extremely detailed stone carvings and design and can be spotted from a distance. This is the only temple in the country where Shri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swami- who is a combination of the third and fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu- appears. Lord Narasimha appears here in the tribhanga posture and has two hands with the head of a lion on a human torso.
A shrine that follows strict discipline, the Simhachalam temple has detailed prayer routines for all days of the year which are undisturbed by the influx of pilgrims. This place is a treasure of traditional Vaishnavite culture, and you can study the same in the routine of the temple and the various inscriptions that it houses. Interestingly, the statue of the deity appears in its true form only for 12 hours per year on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. On any other occasion, the idol is covered with sandalwood paste. Simhachalam Temple has been a source of inspiration to many poets such as KuchimanchiTimma Kavi, Adidam Sura Kavi, and the likes, owing to its rich history and strong traditional values.
The Rishikonda Beach also known as Rushikonda Beach is a stunning shore located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal in Vishakhapatnam, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Nagarjuna Sagar
Nagarjuna Sagar is one of the largest & highest dams in Asia. The word is derived from a hillock island Nagarjunakonda where a Buddhist Guru once lived. Being the second biggest water reservoir in India, it is the pride of Telangana. Constructed across River Krishna at Nagarjuna Sagar on the border of Nalgonda District, Telangana and Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh State, the dam was built by 1967.
